Tartan Day 2008 is April 6, but we will be celebrating at the State Capital on April 5th.
For information on where to park, download a PDF Map, or view it now.
Clans, Scots, Celts of good cheer, along with Pipers, Dancers, Re-enactors, in full regalia, flags, signs, kilts, will gather at the foot of the Capitol Mall in St. Paul starting at 2:30 p.m. At 3:00 p.m. we will step off in our annual Parade of Tartans, The March for Scotland. Gathering on the steps of the state capitol we will enjoy a program of less than an hour duration that will include the awarding of the 6th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award. There will be music, song, special guests. Be there! Show your Scottish pride. The Minnesota Coalition of Scottish Clans is proudly coordinating this event.
Earlier in the morning, there will be at Scottish Football Game that is being put together by Andy Le of the Twin Cities Scottish Club. As soon as he has given us the details, they will be here.
Following the events on the capitol steps we will move the celebration of Kieran's Pub in downtown Minneapolis (www.kierans.com) where Kieran himself will host an "off the special menu" Scottish Supper. At 7:30 p.m. the doors to the magnificent Titanic Lounge will open, for the Celtic Concert by Rising Gael (www.risinggael.com). Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Tartan Day/SNIM table at the Scottish Ramble (www.scottishramble.org) or at the door for a mere $10 for those over age 16, younger than that – FREE with a grownup.
And there will be this wonderful event that Jennifer Peterson, the dear lass from Glasgow, calls a "Bottle Raffle." Lots more details about that will be coming soon.
The evening events at Kieran's are being coordinated by members of The Twin Cities Scottish Club, St. Andrew's Society of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Police Pipe Band. You do not want to miss this event. We'll be talking about this one for years.
