eMail is a wonderful tool. It allows folks from all over the world to keep and touch and the Tartan Day Cooperative to bring you the Scottish News in Minnesota newsletter each month. However, anyone who uses eMail knows the problems with unwanted eMails, or SPAM.
While it would be very easy for us to provide links that automatically open up an email addressed to a specific person, we choose not to do so because it is too easy for malicious, automated programs, or "bots" to search webpages for such links and add them to junk-mail lists. Even just putting it in plain text such as you@thissite.com is enough for these bots to pick up an email address.
To help minimize this, when you find an email address on this site, it will not be listed in the actual format, instead it will be listed phonetically, in the manner that most people would tell you their address. For example, webmasterATtartandaymnDOTorg will send an email to the webmaster of this site. When sending an email you would address it to webmaster, followed by the @ symbol, then tartandaymn.org
This may be a small thing, but we hope in the long run it does help make a difference.
